Take Your Rental Car or 15 Passenger Van Rental to Greater Newark Conservancy
Newark, New Jersey is a fast passed, always on the go, city. If you are feeling overwhelmed with the constant hustle and bustle of the city, take a trip relax at the Greater Newark Conservancy.
Greater Newark Conservancy promotes environmental stewardship to improve the quality of life in New Jersey‘s urban communities. Founded in 1987, the Conservancy has four program areas:
- Environmental Education: This program offers hands on environmentally themed lessons.
- Community Greening and Gardening: Used to bring awareness to Newark’s deficit of quality preserved open space.
- Job Training: For high school and college used to help educate them on environmental based career opportunities.
- Advocacy for Environmental Justice: Works to educate, train and support communities in creating environmentally safe neighborhoods, encouraging and highlighting community empowerment, pride and self-sufficiency.
These programs are held at any one of the several gathering areas at the center such as the lecture hall/community space, environmental classrooms, demonstration kitchen/laboratory, environmental exhibit galleries or one of the several meetings rooms.
The Prudential Outdoor Learning center is the outdoor “classroom” themed gardens and greenhouse. Greater Newark Conservancy‘s Education Program offers a variety of hands-on environmentally themed lessons. Active participation in the programs increases student enthusiasm, comprehension and retention of key concepts that span the school’s curriculum. Because the Greater Newark Conservancy is such a fun and educational place to bring your children you may want to consider a 12 or 15 passenger van rental as transportation.
One of the several educational events that happened already in April at the Greater Newark Conservancy is the celebration of the Sukkot Harvest Festival. With an historic synagogue structure as the backdrop, a Sukkah was constructed on the grounds of Greater Newark Conservancy’s Urban Environmental Center in Newark to celebrate the Jewish holiday of Sukkot. Interns from the Newark Youth Leadership Project learned about the holiday from Rabbi Elliott Tepperman of Bnai Keshet in Montclair, who joined Conservancy staff, board members and members of the community who shared food and refreshment inside the Sukkah.
